After sustaining damage in combat against the
Strike Gundam,
the
Duel Gundam
is fitted with an
Assault Shroud,
a set of extra equipment designed to increase its mobility and firepower. Based on similar devices used by other
ZAFT
mobile suits,
the Assault Shroud includes a compact
railgun
and a missile pod, as well as an extra layer of armor and additional vernier thrusters to compensate for the added weight. However, while it performs well in space, this heavy configuration proves to be rather unwieldy under gravity.
